News: State Register Plaques

Rhode Island State Register plaques are available for:
individually listed properties (below)
properties included in historic districts (right)

The Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission (RIHPHC) is launching a new program to recognize properties listed in the State Register of Historic Places. If you own a property listed on the State or National Register of Historic Places, you can purchase a plaque to display.

Rhode Island’s State Register includes nearly 20,000 historic and prehistoric resources. It includes properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places as well as additional sites determined to be significant to Rhode Island’s heritage. These properties may be part of a historic district or individually listed.

Prior to ordering a plaque, property owners must confirm with RIHPHC that the property is listed in the State Register. Download the Rhode Island State Register Request form, fill it out and submit a copy to RIHPHC via email or fax: 401-222-2968. If you wish to speak with RIHPHC staff, call 401-222-4138 and leave a voicemail message.

If your property is listed, RIHPHC will send you a RI State Register certificate and an order form. Include a copy of the RI State Register certificate along with your order form to purchase a plaque directly from the manufacturer, Healy Plaques in Manville, Rhode Island.

Each 4.25" x 7.25" plaque is made of cast aluminum with a black painted background, finished with a protective polyurethane coating. The plaque is pre-drilled for easy installation and comes with 2 painted wood screws. The total cost per plaque is $151.60 ($123.00 + $8.61 RI Sales Tax + $19.99 Shipping).
