Rhode Island Outdoor Sculpture Book
Outdoor Sculpture of Rhode Island was published by the RIHP&HC with the Rhode Island Historical Society. The book is a product of a survey that located and recorded information about 150 permanent outdoor sculptures which are accessible to the public. The survey was funded by SAVE OUTDOOR SCULPTURE! (SOS!), a joint project of the Smithsonian Institution American Art Museum and Heritage Preservation. The book contains an essay about the history of Rhode Island's outdoor sculpture and includes an illustrated inventory with 115 contemporary and historic images. It can be purchased from the Rhode Island Historical Society (401)331-8575 for $15.
RIHP&HC is on the Web
The Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission has completed the development of its first World Wide Web site. The site has been in the planning stages for several months. We cannot include all of the available information on the web, but have attempted to address the most common questions and issues about preservation in order to make it easier for the state's citizens to find the answers they need. We hope that our site is useful. Please feel free to contact us with comments or questions.
