At Lunch
The conference lunch will be held at the Father Marot CYO Center at 53 Federal Street, behind the Stadium Theatre. This brick and limestone building was built around 1928 as the headquarters of the Independent Textile Union, later the Industrial Trade Union. Since 1971, it has served as a CYO center to provide youth programs and activities for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.

Closing Reception
Enjoy a dynamite sandwich—a specialty in northern Rhode Island—and other refreshments at the St. Ann Arts & Cultural Center, called “the Sistine Chapel of America” by Yankee Magazine. The former Roman Catholic Church was built between 1913 and 1917 by French Canadian immigrants to serve the religious and social needs of their community. The modern French Renaissance-style building features more than 40 stained glass windows, designed and produced by French artists and installed in the 1920s. Twenty years later, Italian-Canadian artist Guido Nincheri decorated the soaring church interior in fresco paintings which incorporate the faces of parishioners and Woonsocket residents. It is the largest collection of fresco paintings in North America.

Twelve years ago, when the Diocese of Providence announced plans to close St. Ann’s Church, a small but determined group of concerned individuals organized a campaign to save the building. They incorporated as a non-profit in 2002 and acquired the building in 2007. Today, the St. Ann Arts & Cultural Center continues its efforts to program, promote, and preserve this unique historic building.
